Thank you Darty!

This post is brought to you courtesy of Darty and their partner Numericable! Hmm or maybe it should be the other way around haha!

I now have a really rocking connection...

What really made me happy was the extra mile the service guys did for me... When they came my gardienne (building supervisor/concierge/all-in-one service guy) was out for lunch. As it turns out he's holding the keys for the central cable access. I was resigned to not being able to get my Internet fixed even though I had blown a half-day on it... blegh...

Somehow on their way out they bumped  into/found (don't really care either way) my gardienne. 5 minutes of moping and I was surprised by the doorbell... The rest is history...

@ My gardienne, I'm sorry for interrupting and disrespecting your lunch. On the plus side I'm very grateful for what you've done!

@ Darty Service Guys, you've proved that good service in France is not a myth. Thanks to your effort, Darty now has 1 more loyal customer!

@ Everyone else, this is what Darty looks like, they can be found all over Paris

Their standard terms reads as, "Contrat de Confiance". Which is 'Contract of Trust' ... somewhere in there I know there's something about the promise of Darty's service quality. Looks like they really care about it!

Technically the internet service belongs to Numericable (Darty is a reseller). However, I find this to be a perfect dovetailing of front and back ends. Service matches the quality of the connection.

Go Darty! Go Numericable! Darty service rox!

St Joseph's in Paris

Here we have some pics of the church I've found in central Paris. Not sure if there are many others that are fully English speaking but ... I guess the place is kinda cosy in its own way. Small population it seems and quite a few transients ... ah well.

Justin's French Apartment

After some searching I finally found a nice place! I'll go into more detail in future posts about the process. The short version is that my new address here in France is:

M. Justin Chia
2, Boulevard Jourdan
75014 Paris

As I learned, there are a few quirks to the system here in France. Will blog more when I'm not on a timer heh.

Personally, I'm loving this place! I better heh.... after all I chose my own bed to lie in :)

Staying in... err.... you'll see

Sigh.... well here's where I stayed in when I first came. Kind of threw me for a loop actually.... Here's where I find out that we're really pampered in Singapore when we talk about hotels and such. Add in the exchange rate and BLAM!

On the plus side, the sheets are clean and the hot water works. *Shrug*

You can take a look for yourself...

Personally, I was greatly motivated to find a better place to stay.... ASAP.

Leaving Singapore

Finally I have something resembling a proper Internet connection! The problem is I'm on a timer so got to do everything quick. I'd like to say to all my friends and family that I'm doing ok (now) here in France. I'll explain why in later posts heh.

For a start I'm posting everything roughly in the order that they occurred so keep with me guys. So for a start, here I am at Changi Airport in balmy Singapore.

A big shoutout to all my Junior Cats (and associates) who gave me a last good Peranakan makan! Really appreciate Edwin & Pam, Francis & Ming, and of course my wonderful family who sent me off at the airport. Auntie Nancy, your Ginseng Tea is definitely being put to good use.

Sayang... I miss you so much! Can't wait to see you again. Bring me along with you to Japan... just like you're always in my heart here!

Hurray moving out soon!

Finally going to get my own place (although I'm just renting). At least will have some place to call mine. Currently crippled without proper internet access. I promise I will update all my adventures when I can upload properly. Currently photos are kind of stuck.

Congrats to the new parents, Alex and Lesley!
